Evaluation of the Intubating Laryngeal Airway in Children-Phase2

 

This research study investigates a specific type ofairway device, called the intubating laryngeal airway.

Who can participate in this study?

  • In order to participate in the study, your child must be generally healthy and undergoing an elective surgery where an LMA is appropriate for airway management. Your child’s anesthesiologist will make this judgment. He or she must also be under 50 kg and not significantly over- or under- weight for his/her age.

Who should not participate in this study?

  • Children should not participate in this study if they are having emergency surgery, have significant health problems or have an abnormal spine shape. They should not participate if they have gastroesophageal reflux disease (severe heartburn), significant problems with breathing, disorders that prevent blood from clotting normally, irregular airway anatomy or a history of adverse reaction to the LMA (e.g. allergy to a component).
