The Bedside Observer: using patient and family observations to enhance patient safety

Our research group has developed a survey tool that allows families to identify errors or adverse events during their child’s stay at our hospital.

This survey will be completed only if your child stays one or more nights in hospital.  We would appreciate your help with evaluating this tool at the time your child is discharged.

Who can participate in this study?

• In order to participate in this study, your child must be admitted to the hospital (staying overnight) after surgery on ward 3R.

Who should not participate in this study?

• Family/guardians of children who are not admitted (staying overnight).

Status?

• Data collection completed. Data analysis and publication in progress.
